Oh Manchester is Wonderful!!!!
I have come across so many people who have taken the plunge to relocate from Ireland to the UK in recent years in search of more career prospects and setting up a life for themselves. I am like some kind of saleswoman for the Manchester Region when it comes to relocation options. I never understand why everyone originally looks at London as their best option. The majority of these people I have come across are from the professional services sectors. Personally a large number of my own friends have opted for London since the Celtic Tiger Crash back home. Of course London is the most desirable place for young people that is obvious, it has it all, glamour, business, fame and fortune.
It can cost an average of about £10 per day just to actually get to work in London. I have friends who live in London with their partners and share a house with 3 other couples and two single professionals. They have to make a rota for their morning showers and use of the kitchen for lunch preparation as they cant possibly fork out another £10 for an average lunch in the city also. They are all in decent salaries but they are paying no less than £1000 per month for rentals. Getting on the property market up north is proven to be a lot easier as the outgoings firstly of your average professional are about 30% less than London.
Manchester has it all i think anyway. A developing City with so many different areas to set up a life. The average age of a first time buyer in London is mid thirties. Manchester is of course so much smaller and does not have the glamorous image to that of London but its affordable and opportunities are always increasing and available here.
We have two of the most famous football clubs in the world here in City and Untied.
In music we have Oasis. Arts & Entertainment comes in at much more affordable prices at venues such as the Manchester Arena, the Apollo and The Palace theatre as well as the famous Lowry.
In terms of climate – well I think it’s just a myth about Manchester being “The City of Rain” and anyways The Lake District and North Wales are within easy reach.
There are some amazing penthouses, apartments and a fulfilment of contemporary living in the city too and all at much more realistic pricing ranges.
We also are home of the BBC now too! Media City is a whole new zone and the accommodation in that area is so impressive and fits in to the luxury category again at affordable rates.
As someone who relocated myself over a decade ago, i am passionate about helping others relocate with ease.
