That big question – Do I look at moving to a new firm, fresh start, new challenges or will I stick it out where I am?

A question so many professionals within the legal industry face each year perhaps?  A certain time of year usually sparks the curiosity.  Traditionally I have always found the busiest time for an influx of new fresh CV’s tends to run alongside the most structured times of the year such as September and January.  Why those times?

September has always smelt like something new from the smell of new Tupperware for the packed lunches to the smell of new school books and generally that smell of a fresh start.  The buckets and spades are put in to the garage and the bikinis and beach towels are folded neatly away as we all set up for the new term the new start.  Even those without families look at September as the new start as it has been a tradition since we were school goers.

Already I am having so many conversations with 2 – 5 years PQE Solicitors who have booked in lunch meetings and phone calls with me in September, their holidays are over and it is time to look ahead.

Of course the same applies to January – New year’s resolutions, a new term the start of a brand new page – 2017 is the year for me etc.

My advice to some candidates has been to keep your nose unblocked all year around and keep smelling opportunities as you sit in your current seat, don’t let opportunities pass you by simply because it is not “New-term time”.

An opening at a reputable law firm for example who may be offering a unique opportunity for a 3 years PQE Residential Solicitor with an offering of exposure to Commercial Property along with a very clear pathway of progression might only be available now in late July and will get snapped up.  Are you sitting there thinking about when to start looking, when to apply.   Well with a guarantee of 100% confidentiality and a consultant who really cares then contact me now at Eventus Legal Recruitment and we can get your project started.

I call it a project as personally I am not in a rush to get you placed I am in a rush to get you the right role.  We all know that projects require research and different stages that need completing before the launch.

After 10 years in the recruitment industry it has been so refreshing to of spent the last 4 years offering such a tailored calm recruitment service to my candidates.

So my message is to stop putting it off and get yourself presented with some really unique opportunities ahead of the recruitment rush in September.
